Back in 1998, Disney partnered up with McDonald’s to promote their new movie at the time, “Mulan.” To help with this, McDonald’s made a limited-time dipping sauce that they called “Szechuan sauce.” After a while, they discontinued the product, and the sauce was pretty much forgotten... until now. On April 1, 2017, the season 3 premiere of popular animated series “Rick and Morty” reignited interest in the sauce after Rick (seen below) goes on a rant about how his goal in life is to find more of the szechuan sauce. Shortly afterwards, the fanbase went to Twitter to ask McDonald’s about the sauce. What is most surprising about this situation is that McDonald’s has actually responded to these questions, and judging from their answers, there’s a good chance that we might actually see that szechuan sauce coming back.
