For most of the month of September (and probably a little longer), a dance craze called “the dab” has snuck itself onto pop culture’s radar.
The dab started during the Atlanta hip-hop scene earlier last year, but people can’t seem to decide on who exactly originated this strange dance move.
What people can agree on, however, is how the dab got popular. It started back in November 2015 when Cam Newton, NFL quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, started dabbing to celebrate every touchdown he made (much to the annoyance of the opposing team, the Tennessee Titans).
Now, it seems everyone is doing the dab, from sports players other than Newton to Betty White. Even Hillary Clinton got in on dabbing. It seems that this trend won’t be dying anytime soon, whether we like it or not.
